Take a walk on the wild side

"To walk in nature is to witness a thousand miracles," said Mary Davis. Such true words! And something to keep in mind if you're looking for a pick-me-up and to feel more grounded.

Wherever you are in the world, in a city, town, the countryside, by the beach or elsewhere, why not take a few minutes today to witness a thousand miracles and find a nice and quiet spot to take it all in?

If you're in a city, why not find your nearest park and take a stroll there, and if you're already in the countryside, find a place that takes your liking.

Walking in nature
Walking in one of Bali's many rice fields can fill you with a sense of calm and groundedness

Once you've found your spot, look around you and notice what you see.

Stand still - maybe even barefoot, letting your toes touch the ground beneath you - and close your eyes.

Next try taking a few deep breaths and focus your senses on your surroundings.

What can you hear? What can you smell? What can you touch? What can you taste?

Keep breathing in and out.

Open your eyes. What can you see? How do you feel? Do you feel more grounded? More relaxed?

This simple activity can be practised again and again. If you've been feeling stressed and like you have the whole world on your shoulders, try doing this every day for a few days in a row and see if it helps. Maybe you'll become so used to walking in nature, that it will become a part of your everyday life.
